HEADSHOTS

HEADSHOT SESSIONS

The dreaded headshot!  My goal is to make the headshot experience as painless as possible for you.  The style of portraits you want will dictate where and how the shoot takes place.  We can shoot the session indoors, outdoors, or a combination of the two.  I aim to get the session done as quickly and efficiently as possible, but typically a session will take around 30 minutes.  Depending on the style of portraits you are looking for, we look for locations that provide as much variety as possible. We will discuss all of this prior to your session.

Traditional, Not-so-traditional, Stylized

I specialize in two types of headshots: Not-So-Traditional, and Stylized corporate headshots. Traditional headshots are set in a studio setting and include standard poses with a solid and neutral backdrop, which look more like yearbook pictures.  I do not provide these types of shots.  Not-So-Traditional are personality-driven poses on neutral backgrounds and standard poses with more various and creative backgrounds. For example, at a park or against a brick wall.  Stylized corporate shots take your work environment into context, and give you the most range to express your personality while also still offering the headshots you need for traditional use.  Examples of stylized shoots include a lawyer in a law library, an interior designer in one of his/her homes, a builder on a construction site, etc.

What should I wear?

A better question is, 'What shouldn't I wear?’.  It's your style that needs to come through, so wear your personality. HOWEVER, try and keep patterns to a minimum and avoid colors that will reflect poorly on your skin.  You might want to stick with neutral colors if you can. Also, wear something that makes you feel good about yourself. Wearing something that makes you feel comfortable with yourself will translate into better photos.

When is the best time to do an outdoor shoot?

There's so much variety outdoors that I typically suggest venturing out for some photos. The midday can be tough if it's sunny outside though- so earlier in the morning, or later in the evening will typically yield better photos. This doesn't mean you can't get great photos in the middle of the day, it's just easier when the sun isn't smack in the middle of the sky. If it's cloudy out, you can get a great photo pretty much anytime.

After Session

Within a week after your session, you will receive the online password-protected gallery containing your 20+ edited images to view. From this gallery, you will choose which images you want. The gallery will remain up for 2 weeks, which gives you plenty of time to make your decisions.
